The mare settled well and travelled strongly through the mile, but a tactical decision approaching the turn proved costly. Rider Louise Day elected the inside run, which—on a Heavy 8—was clearly inferior to the wider corridor. As a result, SPURLINE struggled over the final 250 meters on the worst part of the track. Wider lanes delivered the superior ground so we'll put her name on our horses to follow.
